Dream holiday: JAPAN! Arigatou gozaimasta! :D Yo! My dream holiday is a holiday in Japan! Wow! I sure miss Japan!(Went there about 2 years ago on a science trip) I was really fun and interesting! I really wish to go there again! Maybe some good buddy to tag along to complete the dream. Haha! Japan was great! There is where i met the kindest people in the world. Many Japanese have treated me well there. There was this Japanese auntie who even gave me(a stranger) a tube of potato chip when I lost a few times to the arcade machine. How cool is that! I miss the sunlight there as it was cooling under the sunlight. The air was refreshing and I have not experienced any snow before!  PRACT 8 & 9 Briefly reflect on lessons learnt from this practical: a. Update your blog with magical pictures of your Dream Holiday destinations Did that! Refer to top! b. Compare this with your blogging experience using Blogspot. Easier to process the infomation.compared to long posts of blogging. Question 2: How can you use Twitter and Blogspot for research purposes? Some blogs are dedicated to only certain topis,so its sometime like a website , so infromation can be readily found at such blogs.Twitter,too have these kind of twitters who only dedicate their account to certain topics.For example,Milton(A guy in our class) have a twitter all about computer stuffs. Second life: Well, today we had some fun on second life but its too laggy if there are multipleusers at one single location so its quite hard to use for educational purposes.Second life, being a virtual world,students can just fly off in a middle of a lesson and everything will become time costlyand chaostic and confusing,especially when something in the programmes are not working. Sunday, March 28, 2010 INVIS WEB! Question 1: Do you think it is more effective to search the invisible web (databases) than using search engines, meta-search or subject directories? Why? Not Really,from what i have searched for so far, i hardly find much relevant topic that i need for my research,so I'll still stick to meta search and search engines. Question 2: Will you use the invisible web (databases) for research in your own respective Diplomas? Why? Maybe i might try to use it again.It might come in handy in certain topic? but I'm not too sure now i guess.But i'll give it a try when i''m researching. Question 3: What have you learnt from your wiki experience during this practical? I learnt that wikis can be very helpful yet limited. Since wikis can be edited by just anybody,trust in the source is limited,unless citations are given.Without the citations and links,its hard to believe the information shown. Question 4: Comment on at least one of your classmate’s blog post. Refer to Ryan's :D Praticial 4 n 5 Side feedings & Wiki-ing Well, for practical 4 and 5, we basically we taught to learn and use meta search engines such as metacrawler to aid us in our own individual research.From what i have learn form using meta search engines,it have a very significant small amount of hits which is quite different from the usual search engines which have million of hits on each topics. The thing about meta search engines is that they only display what that the user wants to search for by giving pages that many other search engines have found.So, i found out that the results are quite relevant to what i am searching for, giving me more time to research no other parts. about the site feeds,it really helps as the user is automatically connected to the webpage and if there is any updates or changes,the person who is site feeding will be notified, which is great for a lazy person like me! :D Lastly,regarding the wikis,i find wiking kinda fun as many people are sharing their different views on one common topic. This allows the information to grow bigger or change over time as more users get involved. Saturday, March 27, 2010 Reflections on google, forum,citation (pract 3) Question 1: Impressed by google’s search functions/features? Why? 50/50,I knew some of the functions like advanced search,but not the super cool functions of wild-cards!Didn't know that such a function existed till this class came into my life.So,i learnt something new today! Question 2: How do you feel about participation in discussion forum? Is it helpful for your research? Do you feel anxious about talking to others you do not know? I feel alien and strange.As i dont usually participate in forums , so,its kinda awkward to type stuff and discuss about AIDs in a AIDs Forum.Not really helpful to my research as most of the forums are pretty outdated and old.Can't find fresh new ones.Yes i do feel anxious,as i dont know when they'll reply and they are total complete strangers that might be on another land of something. Question 3: Why must you do citation and bibliography? So that changes to the reference can be acknowledged and this lets others to know where and how you get your sources. Prevents accused plagiarism. Question 4: You can also Tweet about your experiences Yeap i am! :D Reflections on website purpose ( practical 1 & 2) Well,today we started off, with introduction to twitter. so,i signed up for twitter for the sake of this CDS. well,its kinda wierd but, so far, i'll stick to following a few people i guess. Then Cher let us see lady gaga's bad romance video which was kind of different, hahah compared to my secondary school teachers who dont appriciate music. :P we also wrote down keywords for the research things for the google search later on. So,we learn more about searching in google! learn more stuffs like wildcards n N/2 thingys that really helped redefine my search!
